Performance on the Range
Enhance your shooting experience with the FRT-RD3™ (SEF) Forced Reset Trigger. Designed to accelerate follow-up shots while remaining within legal parameters, the innovative Forced Reset system resets the trigger after each shot, enabling faster, more consistent firing. Each trigger pull fires one round, ensuring full legal compliance while delivering improved speed and performance. Perfect for competitive shooting, tactical training, or maximizing your HK roller-delayed firearm’s potential.
Innovative Design and Features
- 3-Position Functionality: The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) features Safe, Semi, and Forced Reset modes, controlled via a 3-position, HK SEF style safety selector.
- Effortless Installation: The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) includes an SEF safety selector designed for easy installation in an HK SEF type grip frame.
Durable Construction for Long-Lasting Performance
Crafted from high-quality materials, including 7075 anodized aluminum and heat-treated 4140, the FRT-RD3™ (SEF) is built to endure heavy use. This robust construction ensures reliability and longevity, allowing you to push your roller locked firearm to its limits with confidence.
Compatibility with the HK MP5/SP5 Platform
The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) is specifically engineered to operate with the factory semi-automatic bolt carrier used in the HK MP5, MP5K, SP5, and SP5K roller-delayed pattern firearms. For that reason, the FRT-RD3™ (SEF) is compatible with models containing factory full-auto carrier denial blocks in the receiver with no modifications needed to the firearm. The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) provides simple plug and play installation. Please note: The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) is also compatible with all full-auto bolt carrier groups but one is not required.
Compatibility with the HK MP5/SP5 SEF Grip Frame
The HK SEF grip frame is identified by the traditional letter-coded markings: S (Sicher – Safe), E (Einzelfeuer – Semi), and F (Feuerstoß – Full Auto). This configuration is characterized by a single-sided lever located on the left side of the grip. The selector’s position is indicated by a “tail” on the lever that points directly to the letters on the housing, which are typically stamped into the plastic.
Unmatched Speed and Control
The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) is ideal for shooters seeking speed and precision. The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) was designed from the ground up as a specific HK, roller-delayed trigger. Specific geometry ensures correct, safe timing and function for the roller-delayed platform with no possibility of firearm damage. The FRT-RD3™ (SEF) provides a clean, crisp 2-stage trigger pull. By mechanically resetting the trigger after each shot, then locking the trigger from being pulled until the BCG returns to battery, this system allows for faster follow-up shots without needing advanced techniques. The forced reset mechanism ensures the trigger returns to the non-firing position after each round, requiring the shooter to pull the trigger again, offering full control over each shot.
Why Choose the FRT-RD3™ (SEF) Forced Reset Trigger?
If you’re looking to boost your HK roller-delayed firearm’s performance, the FRT-RD3™ (SEF) Forced Reset Trigger is the ultimate upgrade. With its rapid-fire capability, versatile fitment, and seamless compatibility with the HK MP5/SP5 and similar roller-delayed firearm platforms, this trigger provides a superior shooting experience for competition, tactical use, or range drills. Unlock the full potential of your HK MP5, MP5K, SP5, or SP5K with the FRT-RD3™ (SEF).

Chris –
I thought my MP5 was already about as fun as a range gun could get. Then I threw an RD3 in it and found out I was wrong. Rare Breed really showed out with this one. My setup is legit AF now and that third position takes the MP5 from cool to straight-up addictive. Erbody wants to run my MP5 now.
Cody –
Dropped one of the SEF FRT-RD3’s in my MP5 clone and yeah, this thing is straight legit. Rare Breed didn’t just make something cool for the platform, they cooked up something that gave the platform a whole new level of swagger!
Ryan –
I’ve been around MP5-style guns for years, and there aren’t many products that come along and get me excited. Rare Breed took something I’ve shot a thousand times and was able to make it exciting all over again. That’s probably the biggest compliment I can give it. I’m having fun with the gun again like I did when I first got it. Thank you Rare Breed! You guys Rock!
Evan –
I put the SEF version of the Rare Breed RD3 in my Zenith ZF5 and it has quickly become my favorite upgrades I’ve made to any gun I own. What I like is that it doesn’t feel like I added some gimmicky accessory just for range-day laughs. The whole setup feels well thought out, and it makes an already fun gun even harder to put down. I’ve spent more money on upgrades that made a lot less difference. This one was worth it.
Connor –
I am all about having the SEF style in the FRT lineup! I am def one of those people who appreciates the old school SEF style grip frame and I wouldn’t want to give up the classic look just to add an FRT. So with that, thank you RB! You guys have outdone yourselves with this one.
Henry –
Some products are interesting because they’re new. The RD3 is interesting because it makes an old platform feel exciting all over again. That’s a pretty impressive trick for a gun with this much history. Rare Breed has breathed a whole new life into this platform by bringing the FRT-RD3 to market. Their FRT is the best thing to happen to this platform in decades.
Olly –
IMO, the SEF style is where it’s at. Those letter markings and the single-sided lever have a character of their own. I appreciate Rare Breed offering a version that respects that preference.
Randy –
This is the RD3 look I favor. The traditional SEF arrangement just makes sense. I’m happy that Rare Breed made it an option.
Larry –
There’s a lot to like about that old SEF look. I’m partial to the lettering and the simple lever. Reckon a classic doesn’t need help introducing itself. I’m old so maybe that just helps me feel better as well.
Shane –
The SEF version gets my vote. I like the old-school classic look, and the RD3’s two-stage pull in semi is so freakin nice. This setup has me smiling from ear to ear.
Jake –
The letter F has officially become my favorite part of the German alphabet. They must have known it was gonna end up meaning FRT.
Thank you, Rare Breed.
Luke –
Turns out I wasn’t done building out my MP5. I was just waiting on Rare Breed. The RD3 completed the assignment.
Tom –
The SEF look of the RD3 still has all the style. I like the lettering, I like the simple silhouette, and I’m glad there’s an RD3 for it. Old-school gets a little FRT love from Rare Breed!
Mark –
I gotta say, it’s a pretty cool feeling operating an MP5 with the traditional S-E-F markings and knowing there’s a whole lot more going on underneath than there used to be. The RD3 gives an iconic platform that fresh FRT mode without making it feel like a different gun.
Some upgrades change what you own. This one just gives you another reason to love what you already own.
Al –
The traditional appearance of an SEF grip frame suits me. I also appreciate the RD3’s two-stage design. A favorable combination, as far as my preferences go. And IMO, it’s a much better trigger than the OEM. Just sayin!
Ed –
I wanted to keep my MP5 looking like an old-school MP5, so the SEF version was the obvious choice for me. What I didn’t expect was just how much the trigger would change the personality of the gun. Semi feels great, the old-school controls stay intact, and the third position brings me so much happiness. Rare Breed did one hell of a job to keep that classic German look and I am over the moon happy about it.
Luke –
What separates the RD3 SEF from many aftermarket solutions is the coherence of the design. It is plainly obvious that Rare Breed spent a considerable amount of time to engineer this FRT as a system. The two-stage semi-auto operation is particularly impressive because it makes the RD3 worthwhile beyond its forced-reset capability. Maintaining the traditional SEF interface is simply icing on the cake. This is a sophisticated solution to a platform that has historically had relatively few truly innovative trigger options.
Shane –
No fancy review from me. I installed the RD3 in my setup, took it to the range, and came home smiling. The trigger is a huge improvement and I love keeping the old-school SEF setup. Good trigger. Bad influence on my ammo budget.
Tuck –
I love my MP5 setup so much that I am very hesitant to make changes. It’s a hard decision for me. Turns out, the RD3 ended up being one of those upgrades I wish I had made sooner. I get to keep the traditional SEF configuration I like, but the actual shooting experience is on another level. What finally pushed me over the edge and influenced me to What surprised me was how much I enjoy it in regular semi. I give it a try was all of the positive reviews online. There are hundreds and hundreds of people bragging about what a high-quality trigger the RD3 is. And most of all, there are so many comments about how good the trigger pull is. The third position is what caught my attention but all of the positive comments about the trigger pull in the standard semi mode is what convinced me. I am soooo happy that I pulled the trigger (pun intended).
TB –
The SEF version of the RD3 is a solid piece of kit. I enjoy the feel in semi. The two-stage feel is so much better than the trigger I had in my gun before. But thank you Rare Breed for the FRT mode cuz it’s all the rage.
Wade –
I’m enjoying my RD3. It give me the OG look that I want and improves the trigger pull over the standard OEM by 1000%. It’s so well made and built like a tank. RB didn’t cut any corners for sure. And that 3rd position is lit AF. A hella positive review from me.
Jake –
Exactly what I wanted for my MP5. Traditional SEF appearance, a substantially better trigger than the factory setup, and a third position that delivers the goods. I am really happy that Rare Breed gave us the option to leave the classic look alone and upgraded everything else that mattered.
Parker –
There are certain guns you don’t want to mess with aesthetically, and the MP5 is one of them. It’s got a classic look that you just shouldn’t mess with it. That’s one of the reasons that the RD3 got my attention. It keeps that iconic old-school German look while giving the trigger system a serious attitude adjustment.
Semi is genuinely enjoyable on its own. Then the selector reaches that little letter “F” and suddenly you remember why you brought all that extra ammo. Rare Breed understood the assignment.
Dusty_C –
I went with the SEF version because I wanted to keep the traditional MP5 look. Very glad I did. The trigger feels much better than the original setup and everything operates exactly the way I hoped it would. The third position obviously makes range day considerably more interesting. EVERYONE at the range wants to talk about it. Without a doubt, it is the topic of discussion as soon as people here the brrrtt. Great product and easily one of my favorite upgrades.
HC –
Dropped the RD3 SEF into my MP5 setup and haven’t looked back. Keeps the classic SEF look (which I love so much), considerably improves the trigger, and that third position is an absolute riot. Old-school looks. New-school attitude. Straight fire!
Hunter –
The SEF version of the RD3 is an impressive example of designing with a specific platform in mind rather than simply adapting something to fit it. Offering an SEF style RD3 for the traditional MP5 SEF Grip Frame helps preserve the character, while the trigger itself feels considerably more refined than the OEM factory pack. The two-stage semi pull is predictable, smooth, and deliberate, and the entire system has a reassuring mechanical quality.
What impressed me most is how cohesive everything feels. The trigger, selector, and operating system behave like components of a single design. Rare Breed clearly put serious engineering into the RD3, and the result speaks for itself.
Brooks –
Got the SEF version for my PTR 9CT, and it’s just what I wanted. Keeps the look I like, fits nicely, and has a much better trigger pull than any other option on the market. Yep, I’m happy.
David (verified owner) –
This is the second mp5 trigger that I have bought. Like the first one I got, it is fantastic. This one, I put in a PTR 9KT. Has with the first one I bought, I bought a H&K ejector, pivot pin and ejector spring and put them in the new rb trigger, and preserved the original trigger in its entirety. This trigger pack works perfectly in this PTR, as the first trigger I got and put in my bobcat weapons inc. full size clone did. The best thing since sliced bread
Corey –
The FRT-RD3 SEF is an extremely special upgrade. These guys damn sure got the details right. The two-stage pull in semi is so nice and so much damn nicer than the OEM trigger pack. You can tell that a tremendous amount of attention to detail went into this trigger. It looks right, feels right, and performs exactly as it should. This is how an MP5 trigger upgrade should be done.
Dusty –
I was a little skeptical and didn’t believe this trigger could be so good but boy was I surprised. I thought it was gonna be gimmicky but I gotta say, this trigger ended up being better than I expected. I have the trigger running in an MP5 clone and the two-stage semi-auto pull is cleaner than the standard factory-style pack. The reset is strong and easy to feel. And o’ boy is the FRT mode fun. It is all the rage. Rare Breed got this one right.
Trevor –
Put this in my MKE AP5 and it’s been everything I could have dreamed of. Everything feels solid, the selector levers are really nice, and the trigger is a big improvement over the factory setup. No complaints at all. And with this new third position, my AP5 officially has a new personality.
Nate Dog –
Dropped this bad boy into my MP5 and it fits like beer in a frat-house fridge. The take up is smooth like a strippers ass and the break is crispy fried chicken. Everything just feels dialed. And of course, that third position is always here for the party. Absolute banger!
Jared –
Rare Breed crushed this one. Their attention to detail is spot on. Everything looks and feels amazing. The selector lines up just like it should and that small detail is worth mentioning. The trigger break is noticeably sharper than the factory pack, and the whole thing just feels right.
Brett –
The RB RD3 has been a very solid addition to my Zenith ZF5 setup. The trigger feels purpose-built and is overall of very high quality. It is plain to see that Rare Breed didn’t cut any corners. I had read in numerous reviews that people were saying the trigger pull in standard semi-auto was better than the OEM. I was having a hard time believing that until I got mine. It is true. The trigger pull really is much better than the OEM trigger. I am a happy camper!
CM –
The first thing I noticed was how well the trigger fit into my MP5 grip frame. I love how the selector lever matches up with the icons on the grip frame. Everything matches perfectly. The trigger break itself is much better than the original pack. I am extremely happy with this upgrade!
Jasper –
Rare Breed got the important details right on this model. The traditional selector layout stays familiar. I paired it with an MP5. The break itself is much sharper than the original pack. Rare Breed got this one right. The selector movement is positive, and the whole unit feels properly fitted to the host gun. The machining and finish are clean, and none of the controls feel loose or unfinished. Simply put, the trigger is better than the one that comes OEM from the factory.
Holden –
Dropped this into my AP5 and knew pretty quickly it was staying there. Everything feels tight and well put together, with a crisp reset. The fit and finish are top notch too, which is a nice bonus. The FRT mode is unbelievable. I couldn’t be happier. All around, this thing just feels right.
Wyatt –
This is not my first Rare Breed trigger, which gave me a pretty good idea of what to expect. Mine is in an MP5K. The S-E-F layout keeps the classic MP5 look. The single-sided selector has clear, positive stops. I would use the same setup again. The part I appreciate most is the consistency from the first movement of the trigger through the reset. The selector, trigger shoe, and reset all feel like they were purpose built. I highly recommend this FRT to anyone and everyone.
SOSO850 (verified owner) –
Took 2 minutes to drop in my MAC5 & runs perfectly. Very pleased with the whole thing. Bravo Zulu Rare Breed
Kevin A (verified owner) –
So having had experience with a true full auto MP5, I can say without a doubt this is the closest you will ever get to that! The trigger pack was installed in moments after watching the helpful video here and it runs like greased lightning! It was installed in a full size AP5 SEF lower and I have zero complaints. Everyone I’ve shown it to and let shoot it is in love. Thanks for having the commitment to see the battle through to getting the settlement. Ignore all the unrealistic keyboard commandos griping about whatever. They have no idea what it’s like putting your life and business on the line to fight in court!
Paul (verified owner) –
I had a Warhammer Super Safety with a Slip Trip in my SP5 for two years and it ran like a dream but I hated the Cheesy way it looked. I bought an SEF trigger housing from HK Parts that had been Clipped and Pinned so that my beautiful German gun would look its best and I put in the Rare Breed Trigger and I could not be more pleased!!!!! The trigger pull is crisp and light and it performs perfectly, so far I have put 2,500 rounds through it and it just runs!!!
If you want the best, get this trigger and help support one of the few companies in America that has fought for you rights to enjoy rapid fire and the Second Amendment.
Max (verified owner) –
I originally considered buying a 3D printed, AR derivative lower for my USA Made Zenith ZF5K clone, frankly because the FRT-RD3 SEF is pricey. But the more I read about issues with AR type lowers the more I decided to go with Rare Breed…. I’m so glad I did. Arrived in 2 days. Trigger pack swap took 15 minutes and was ready to run. Zero issues with 300-400 rounds down the pipe. How much is your time worth? You’ll likely have less time wrapped up in a drop-in pack than you will a 3D printed, AR derivative setup. If you want to use the OG lower then Rare Breed is your only option at this time. Totally worth it.
William –
I was terrified of putting an FRT in my Mac5K because I see so many videos online of people having issues with jams or the FRT not working for whatever reason. This has been amazing, hard to believe how cool it is. What I like the most is that I didn’t have to change the grip module, and now the safety selector has all three positions. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
Romstar –
Got this recently, for my MP5 clone built by Atlantic Firearms. The clone is over a decade old, but that is besides the point. This unit popped right in, no issues. I tried the previous AMBI model but that configuration did not fit my lower, so I had to reorder this one.
You wont be disappointed. Id give ten stars if I could. Just know, make sure to check your lower to determine which unit will fit.
Thank you Rare Breed!
SWANK_shooter –
These are expensive but these things RIP boys. It’s 100% the closest any of us normal folks will ever come to the real deal without dropping 30k and endless paperwork. It’s easy to install and the most fun you can have outside with your pants on. Try it!
Tyler C –
The FRT-RD3 SEF has made my MKE AP5 a completely different shooting experience. Installation was plug-and-play — the SEF housing fits perfectly and looks factory. Semi pull is excellent — much better than the factory trigger and very consistent. FRT mode on the MP5 roller-delayed platform is the most fun trigger experience I have ever had.
Bryson L –
I own three MP5-platform firearms and the FRT-RD3 SEF is now installed in all three. The SEF grip frame keeps everything looking completely OEM from the outside. Semi is smooth and crisp across all three hosts. FRT mode on all three is outstanding — each gun runs perfectly without any fitting or modification required. Extremely happy with my choice!
Ryan A –
The FRT-RD3 SEF in my Dakota Tactical SP89 clone is the single best upgrade I have made to any gun in my collection. The SEF housing is completely factory looking. Semi is amazing and FRT mode is even more amazing! Best money I have spent on any firearm accessory period.
Pan (verified owner) –
Finally got to try out an FRT-RD3 SEF in a Zenith ZF5. It rocked and rolled from the first try although I had a couple of FTF caused by a new Magpul drum. Important Note: Don’t make the mistake I made. I originally ordered the AMBI version of the FRT-RD3 trigger because the the ZF5 has an Ambi selector. But, the Zenith ZF5 is actually an SEF. So with that said, if you have a Zenith ZF5 and want to install an FRT-RD3, be sure and purchase the SEF version.
Matt (verified owner) –
I wanted a drop in FRT for my MP5 and boy does this thing deliver! Mine went into a MAC5k and it worked perfect with not a single issue. I mag dumped about 160 rounds suppressed as soon as i put it in. The price is a little high but the machining work done to it makes it feel like it is worth the price. Now i wish they made a drop in for my Jakl!
Jeremy –
Picked up the FRT-RD3 SEF for my Zenith ZF-5 and it has been absolutely outstanding. The SEF selector helps maintain that factory look which is important to me. I love the feel, the fit, and the function. I am extremely happy with my purchase and recommend this trigger to anyone willing to listen to me. Great job guys!
Trevor –
I own several MP5-platform guns and the FRT-RD3 is now installed in three of them. The absolutely love the original OEM look. it makes all the difference to me. Semi is smooth and honestly, better than the OEM. FRT mode is just extraordinary on this platform. Have run it in a Century AP5, an MKE AP5-P, and a PTR 9CT all three platforms run flawlessly. Rare Breed is the only name in MP5 FRTs as far as I am concerned. Bravo zulu!
Mitchell D –
Installed the FRT-RD3 SEF in my Zenith ZF5 and it was plug-and-play from start to finish. The SEF housing keeps everything looking completely factory from the outside. Trigger pull in semi is a major step up from OEM and FRT mode is just insane. Took it to the range this past weekend and the trigger never missed a beat. Best money I have spent on my MP5 clone. Rare Breed is the real deal.
Colton –
Got my FRT-RD3 SEF installed in my PTR 9CT running a surplus HK SEF lower and it fits factory-perfect — you genuinely cannot tell it is not OEM just by looking. Then you shoot it and wow. Semi pull is clean and predictable, FRT mode is an absolute blast. Ran 10 mags back-to-back without a single stutter. My buddy brought his 3D-printed lower setup — after one mag through mine he immediately ordered an SEF housing and an RD3. Says everything you need to know.
JAFO (verified owner) –
Got my new RD3 on Monday, installed it in ten minutes, went to the range, ran flawlessly!
Joseph –
I absolutely love my SEF FRT-RD3. My SEF model is installed in a PTR, and it has performed flawlessly from day one.
One thing I want to mention is that I own both the FRT-RD3 (AMBI) and the FRT-RD3 (SEF), and I genuinely like them equally. The choice between the two really comes down to which grip frame you prefer. Performance-wise, both have been excellent.
The FRT-RD3 (SEF) maintains the classic MP5 feel while delivering the outstanding performance I’ve come to expect from Rare Breed Triggers. Reliability has been excellent, the trigger pull feels great, and the shooting experience is simply addictive. If you’re running a PTR, HK clone, or MP5-style firearm with an SEF setup, this is the best trigger upgrade you can make. It is a 10 out of 10.
Roger –
I couldn’t be happier with this trigger. Since its release, I’ve picked up six Rare Breed FRT-RD3 triggers and installed them across several different MP5-style platforms. They’re currently running in my Dakota Tactical D54SD, Dakota Tactical D54R-N, both of our HK MP5Ks, and a pair of Century Arms AP5s that belong to my sons.
The performance has been outstanding across the board. No problems. No issues. What really sets this product apart is that Rare Breed designed it specifically for the MP5 platform rather than adapting an AR-15 trigger to fit. Rare Breed has knocked it out of the park with this purpose-built trigger!
The engineering and attention to detail are impressive, and the end result is a trigger that just runs like a sewing machine. Excellent job by the guys at Rare Breed. I’m excited to see what they do next!
Garth (verified owner) –
Amazing product and good customer service. Unfortunately ordered the wrong product first go around but customer service was understanding and helpful. Once I got the Rare Breed SEF RD3 installed, it has run perfectly in my POF MP5 clone. Using a surplus SEF lower. Great product can’t wait to see what comes next!
Alexander Reponen (verified owner) –
Truly amazing in every way. I can’t recommend this enough.
Jim (verified owner) –
The timing is perfect! The RD3 fits perfectly into my stock HK SEF lower. It was easy to install and there was nothing else needed. Will definitely get a couple more for my MP5SD and PDW. Great job guys!
Jack (verified owner) –
Dropped my RB SEF into a POF MP5 (full size) with a HK trigger housing.
It fit like factory and function was perfect in semi and fully-semi.
No matter how many loaded mags you take to the range, you will be surprised how quickly you run out of ammo.
The only gripe, and it’s a tiny one, was the light tension on the selector lever.
A trimmed AR15 selector spring fixed that.
Waiting to catch them back in stock so I can add one to my AP5-P.
Blue-Collar Dad –
I was finally able to get my hands on the Rare Breed FRT-RD3 for my HK SP5K. Installation was extremely easy following their video as a guide. And it ran flawlessly when I got it to the range. It was easy to control. I could get off four rounds, six rounds, or dump the entire magazine without any problems. And of course, I was able to dump magazine after magazine non-stop without so much of a stutter. This is my 5th RB FRT with all of the others performing just as well. I will recommend Rare Breed FRT’s to all of my friends! Amazing!
Dave (verified owner) –
I just received my FRT-RD3 SEF trigger pack only days after ordering it. Installing it in my MKE AP5 P was super easy and took less than 10 minutes. Trigger pull is so much better than the OEM. I’ve owned a transferable HK MP5, and this FRT is just as fun.
Joe (verified owner) –
If you own an MP5 (SEF) or a clone, the RD3 (SEF) trigger is a must-have. The RB RD3 (SEF), paired with an 80-degree locking piece, completely revived my MP5K. After installation, it ran flawlessly with 115 to 147 grain ammo with zero FTF / FTE. The build quality is excellent, and installation is straightforward. Thanks to RB, I now have a functional third-position “F,” and my MP5K runs fast while remaining controllable and accurate. The selector axle’s tension adjustment screw is a great feature, allowing you to fine-tune resistance so each movement between SEF positions is both audible and tactile. Highly recommended Rare Breed Triggers!
Tacteam369 (verified owner) –
Just received my FRT-RD3 SEF, installed in less than 10 minutes in my MKE AP5-P. I just got back from the range and it ran flawlessly in all modes. I’ve owned a transferable HK MP5 in the past and the RB FRT is just as fun and has a better trigger pull.
Nick (verified owner) –
I have the AMBI FRT-RD3 in my HK SP5, but I have the SEF FRT-RD3 in my MKE AP5 full size and also in my Zenith built HK34. Runs 100% in both. These triggers are just smooth! I am really impressed. Really does unleash the full potential of the MP5 platform without the 50-90 grand price tag.
Johnny Lee Lewis (verified owner) –
Received my FRT-RD3 today, installed it, and test fired it in my HK SP5. It was flawless! I am so happy Rare Breed came up with a clearly superior FRT for the HK, and clones. It’s full duty weapon grade.
Jason L (verified owner) –
I am pleased to have acquired two of the Rare Breed FRT-RD3’s forced reset triggers for my MP5 and MP5K. I will absolutely be getting a third for my MP5SD.
These allow for the classic look of the MP5 to remain by using the factory HK style grip housing. Installation was simple and the functionality is impressive. $50,000 for a transferable MP5 or a Rare Breed FRT for a fraction of the cost.
Buy with confidence!

All I can say is wow! I got my trigger pretty quick. The FRT-RD3 is a night and day difference from the Super Safety triggers. There’s no extra BS like adding trips or cutting springs. I broke in the trigger with my new Zenith ZF5. I initially fired 400 rounds on semi-auto with 124gr and had zero issues. No misfeeds, light primer strikes, etc. Then I fired another 250 rounds in forced reset mode. I fired 3, 4, and 5 rounds bursts with 115, 124, and 147gr before I ran out of ammo. My ZF5 eats!
David Corbin (verified owner) –
Got my FRT-RD3 SEF trigger pack today. Got it installed with no problems at all. It was installed in a Bobcat Weapons Inc MP5 clone and it works perfectly. Instead of swapping out the ejector, ejector pivot pin, and spring from my original trigger pack, I ordered new ones from HK Parts and keep my original trigger pack intact. The FRT-RD3 SEF trigger pack works perfectly! You can’t tell the difference between it and the real thing. Absolutely perfect A plus! Now I’m waiting on the AK version.
Josh (verified owner) –
The FRT-RD3 was super easy to install and you get to keep the classic look of your MP5. Built like a tank, runs flawlessly, no malfunctions. You’ll burn through all your ammo and you won’t regret it. 11/10 experience!

Excellent product, very well designed, precision manufactured, and functions flawlessly in my PTR 9KT PDW. Since the RD3 is dimensionally the same as a factory trigger pack, it fits perfecty in my factory SEF trigger housing. This is absolutely the best accessory to get if you have an MP5 clone.

This trigger is literally the best thing since sliced bread. Before I had the Rare Breed FRT-RD3, I was running a crappy 3d printed lower and it just took away from the classic MP5 aesthetic that we all love. Now I get to enjoy my MP5’s exactly how they were intended to run and look.

The Rare Breed RD3 is a great trigger! The trigger pull is right around 3.5 lbs, it’s 100% drop-in, and also not nearly as finicky as the AR-style lowers for the MP5. Also, when you add up the cost of everything required to run the AR-style lowers, they end up being more expensive. So actually, you can end up saving money going the Rare Breed RD3 route.

These are expensive, but these things RIP boys. It’s 100% the closest any of us normal folks will ever come to the real deal, without dropping 30k and endless paperwork. It’s easy to install, and the most damned fun you can have outside with ya pants on. Try it!
