Two-Stage Semi-Automatic Mode & Single-Stage FRT® Mode
- Semi-Automatic Mode: In Semi-Automatic mode, the trigger provides two distinct stages during the trigger travel. The first stage, approximately 2.5 lbs of pull weight, can be referred to as “take-up.” The second stage is a crisp “wall” requiring an additional 2 lbs of pressure to break. I wanted the best most reliable FRT trigger, so after doing a lot of research, I ordered the FRT-15C3. Installation was simple. I added an H2 buffer and super 42 spring then tested. Function was flawless in both semi and super fast semi. This is an easy decision, buy a Rare Breed FRT. They just work. The FRT-15C3 is going into all my AR builds.

The C3 is a remarkably well-developed trigger system. What impressed me most is that the forced-reset capability does not come at the expense of normal semi-automatic operation. The two-stage pull is deliberate and predictable, with a level of refinement that makes the trigger enjoyable during ordinary range use. The first stage, or take up as some like to call it, is smooth like glass. And the second stage break is crisp and deliberate. The design is exceptional.
The third position is obviously what separates the C3 from a conventional performance trigger, but I think focusing exclusively on that feature misses the point. Rare Breed managed to build a trigger that I genuinely enjoy using even without FRT mode and then added the capability everyone actually came for. That combination makes the C3 much more than a novelty. The C3 is an amazing well designed and manufactured high-quality trigger that also happens to offer a forced reset third-position. Everyone should have this trigger!

I really wanted to add the FRT function to my rifle but didn’t want to lose high quality in standard semi. The FRT-15C3 has a defined rhythm: take-up, wall, break, reset. The take-up is so smooth and the break is beautiful. The rifle is running an H2 buffer; so far that combination has worked well. I have not had a trigger-related issue with the setup. The trigger has done exactly what I wanted it to do and I couldn’t be happier.

It is way more dialed in than I expected and definitely a step up from the usual single stage FRT setup. This was my first Rare Breed trigger and holy hell, what an introduction. Threw it into my Franken-builds and this thing absolutely slaps. Semi is way smoother and crisper than I expected, and the third position doesn’t screw up the normal trigger pull at all. Everything feels dialed in and built to last. Definitely not some garage science project. Semi is legit, FRT mode is a certified party animal. It deserves better than this garbage AR I installed it into but I’m prolly gonna leave it there. I’ll chalk it up to a learning moment. Just gonna order a couple more for my nicer rifles.

But if I’m being straight forward, this standard semi-auto mode is so good that I am surprised it’s not all you hear about in the socials. You have gotta try this trigger! RB killed it with this one!

The C3 has more feedback through the press than the L3. This is my second Rare Breed trigger, and it made a really strong impression. I love my L3 but the C3 truly is so much better IMO. It really makes a difference in the standard semi-auto mode, especially with precision shots. The trigger has a much more finished feel than any standard mil-spec trigger. And really, I can’t think of another after market trigger that I would say is better. The selector movement is positive, and the whole unit feels like a significant upgrade.

Over the last year, I have purchased quite a few Rare Breed FRTs. After buying my first one, it didn’t take long to tell that these guys are the best in the business. They are putting out the highest quality forced reset triggers hands down. There is no comparison. As much as I love the L3, I love my new C3 even more. The FRT-15C3 is the best damn FRT I have had the pleasure of shooting thus fur. Unless RB comes out with a better trigger for the AR platform, I will most likely stick with the C3 for all of my builds moving forward. The two-stage feel in semi is a completely different shooting experience from the L3. Like I said, the L3 is awesome and the trigger pull is equally awesome but the two-stage pull of the C3 is next level. And of course, FRT mode in the C3 is straight fire. Did 19 years on the service. I know exactly what a good trigger break feels like. Had a Geissele SSP in my LE6920. The FRT-15C3 changed my mind. Two-stage in semi is on par with the SSP when you bring it to the wall and break — maybe better. Then you have FRT mode which the Geissele obviously doesn’t have. Zero malfunctions through 300 rounds. Great product!

Had a Geiselle SSP in my LE6920.
With a Aimpoint T2.
50/200 zero 20 shot exhale and fire rapid shooting for hot barrel groups (after a zero session of slow fire zero)
Get 1.75 to 2.00 ” groups in those 20 shot groups at 50 yds off bags and bench with the SSP which broke at 3.25 to 3.50 pds
Well this FRT-15C3 trigger after lubing it produced 1.5 to 2.00″ 20 shot warm barrel groups.
It also breaks at 3.75 to 4.00 pds consistently in 2 stage lubed.
4.5 pds in enhanced mode.
Dry it was per manufacturer spec weight.
Honestly it is on par with the Geiselle SSP when you bring it to the wall in 2 stage and then final squeeze break.
But the Geiselle does not have enhanced fire….
Then I went into standing, prone, and kneeling enhanced fire.
Took about 3 3 to 5 shot burst to get a
“feel” for it standing at first.
Didn’t do any mag dumps no need for that for me.

5 to 7 rd burst
From 50 to 200 yds
Great concentrated beaten zones at 100 out to 200
50 yd tgt just go slightly low left to start , like 2″ off center of tgt and all rounds are within 2 to 5 inches center line depending on # of rounds in burst.

This is by far the best FRT I have had the experience of shooting so far. The two-stage functionality in standard semi-auto is on par with the best triggers on the market. The trigger pull is as smooth as glass and the final break is extremely crisp. I love the FRT-15L3. In fact, I have 5 of them. But I feel like the FRT-15C3 is even a step up from the L3. When running the FRT-15C3, less friction exists within the firearm and that ultimately lends to requiring less gas to function. The C3 is absolutely amazing!
