FRT-15C3® (FLAT)
Two-Stage (3-Position) Forced Reset Trigger for the AR-15

Take your AR-15 to the next level with the official Rare Breed Triggers FRT-15C3® (FLAT). This drop-in, duty-grade 3-position Forced Reset Trigger (Safe/Semi/FRT®) is 100% manufactured and assembled in the USA. The FRT-15C3® (FLAT) includes a 3-position ambidextrous safety selector and anti-walk pins for a secure, hassle-free installation.

Performance on the Range
Enhance your shooting experience with the FRT-15C3® (FLAT) Forced Reset Trigger. Designed to accelerate follow-up shots while remaining within legal parameters, the innovative Forced Reset system resets the trigger after each shot, enabling faster, more consistent firing. Each trigger pull fires one round, ensuring full legal compliance while delivering improved speed and performance. Perfect for competitive shooting, tactical training, or maximizing your AR-15’s potential.

Innovative Design and Features

  • 3-Position Functionality: The FRT-15C3® (FLAT) features Safe, Semi, and Forced Reset modes, controlled via a 3-position, ambidextrous safety selector. Whether you’re focused on precision shooting or rapid-fire drills, this system adapts to your needs, offering versatility for both left- and right-handed shooters.
  • Effortless Installation: Designed for easy installation on Mil-Spec AR-15 lowers, the FRT-15C3® (FLAT) includes anti-walk trigger pins, providing secure attachment and preventing unwanted movement during extended use. The ambidextrous safety selector seamlessly integrates into any Mil-Spec lower receiver.

Two-Stage Semi-Automatic Mode & Single-Stage FRT® Mode

  • Semi-Automatic Mode: In Semi-Automatic mode, the trigger provides two distinct stages during the trigger travel. The first stage, approximately 2.5 lbs of pull weight, can be referred to as “take-up.” The second stage is a crisp “wall” requiring an additional 2 lbs of pressure to break. This results in a very smooth, crisp 4–4.5 lb trigger pull that allows for predictable, controlled, and extremely fast follow-up shots.
  • Forced Reset (FRT®) Mode: In FRT® mode, the trigger provides a heavier 5–5.5 lb single-stage pull weight throughout the entire length of travel.

Durable Construction for Long-Lasting Performance
Crafted from high-quality materials, including 7075 anodized aluminum and heat-treated S7 steel, the FRT-15C3® (FLAT) is built to endure heavy use. This robust construction ensures reliability and longevity, allowing you to push your AR-15 to its limits with confidence.

AR-15 Compatibility
The FRT-15C3® (FLAT) is compatible with Mil-Spec AR-15 lowers and requires a full-auto-compatible bolt carrier group for proper functionality. For optimal performance, we also recommend using an H2 or H3 buffer, or alternatively, an A5 buffer system. Please note: The FRT-15C3® (FLAT) may not fit in certain Colt models or other lowers with a sear block/shelf.

Unmatched Speed and Control
The FRT-15C3® (FLAT) is ideal for shooters seeking speed and precision. By mechanically resetting the trigger after each shot, then locking the trigger from being pulled until the BCG returns to battery, this system allows for faster follow-up shots without needing advanced techniques. The forced reset mechanism ensures the trigger returns to the non-firing position after each round, requiring the shooter to pull the trigger again, offering full control over each shot.

Why Choose the FRT-15C3® (FLAT) Forced Reset Trigger?
If you’re looking to boost your AR-15’s performance, the FRT-15C3® (FLAT) Forced Reset Trigger is the ultimate upgrade. With its rapid-fire capability, secure anti-rotation design, and seamless compatibility with the AR-15 platform, this trigger provides a superior shooting experience for competition, tactical use, or range drills. Unlock the full potential of your AR-15 with the FRT-15C3® (FLAT).

  1. Ben E. –

Seven months in, and this FRT-15C3 still sits in my lower as if it was built with it. Once I paired it with an M16 carrier and an H2 buffer, the integration was seamless, with the wicked nice two-stage pull in standard semi and a third position FRT mode. Still smiling from ear to ear with my decision to pick up the flat version. Absolutely love it!

  2. Larry –

One thing that everyone should understand about the FRT-15C3 is that it isn’t simply a conventional two-stage trigger. It also has a 3rd position FRT mode. The two-stage semi-auto mode runs beautifully and the FRT mode runs like a wild dog. I am really happy with my purchase and highly recommend this trigger to anyone else that wants a high-end 3-position trigger with FRT mode.

  3. Les –

Closing the upper stumped me. Support responded to my email within the hour. They told me to watch the installation video that is on the Rare Breed website. Sure enough, they have tips on how to close the upper. I should have watched before. Regardless, my C3 runs like a champ. Thank you Rare Breed!

  4. Michael –

Before purchasing a trigger, it helps to understand what kind of pull you actually want. Some people want a single-stage. I want a two-stage. But for those that don’t understand, here’s a little info to help you get it. The C3’s semi-auto setting is two-stage, meaning the shooter encounters initial take-up before reaching the second-stage wall. The FRT setting has a different, single-stage operating feel. Knowing that distinction is important when comparing it with other triggers.

  5. Hank –

There are only a couple super high quality triggers on the market. In fact, I consider Geissele to be the gold standard. But when it comes to FRT’s, I confidently say Rare Breed is the gold standard. The quality of a Rare Breed is on the same level as Geissele but, Rare Breed also has a 3rd position FRT mode. Thank you Rare Breed!

  6. Jordan –

There are plenty of excellent two-stage triggers available for the AR platform but… none of them have a 3rd position FRT mode. And being that the Rare Breed FRT-15C3 is such a top notch premium grade trigger, it stands in a class of it’s own.

  7. Sam –

That flat profile of the C3 is pretty slick. Two-stage semi is a plus for my taste, too. Yeah, this one makes sense to me.

  8. Nathan –

The engineering behind the two-stage FRT-15C3 is impressive. It is obvious how much time and effort went into designing this particular FRT. I’ve got 2 and will probably pick up another one or two in the coming months.

  9. J. Murray –

A trigger can look excellent on paper and still require careful evaluation once installed. The FRT-15C3 looks great on paper so I wanted to give it a good hard look and put it through the paces. I’ve now put more than 3,000 rounds through my rifle with this trigger installed and can confidently say it is better than I could have ever imagined. Not only does it look good on paper, it performs just as good as it looks. The two stage operation is done extremely well. The first stage is silky smooth and the second stage is so crisp and so clean. The construction of the C3 is also really impressive. Rare Breed built this trigger like a tank and it shows. All in all, this is one impressive trigger.

  10. Caleb –

The C3 is next level awesome! It has an extremely predictable first stage and a well defined break. The C3 adds another capability by adding a separate FRT mode without sacrificing its two-stage semi-auto design. Rare Breed did an amazing job building this trigger!

  11. S Golding –

For an AR build where trigger performance is a priority, you should absolutely consider the FRT-15C3. Rather than choosing between a conventional two-stage trigger and forced-reset functionality, this design provides both. That combination is its biggest selling point. Beyond that, it is a high-quality premium trigger. It is offered in more than one trigger shoe variation. For me, I lean toward the flat trigger shoe.

  12. Brantley –

Trigger quality is about more than how something feels when you pull it. Machining, fit, component finish, and consistent operation all contribute to the overall experience. The C3 is particularly impressive because it incorporates both a conventional two-stage semi-automatic mechanism and a forced-reset system in one assembly. It’s made in America and offered by the guys that fought to make forced reset technology legal.

  13. Wes –

One of the more appealing aspects of the C3 is its advertised two-stage pull weight. Approximately 2.5 pounds through the first stage, followed by another 2 pounds to break, gives it a very different character from a heavy factory trigger. The distinct stages are a major part of its appeal. All of that combined with a flat trigger shoe and I’m sold!

  14. Elias –

Reliability is one of the biggest considerations when evaluating an aftermarket trigger. Consistent trigger pull, dependable reset, and predictable operation matter more than a particularly light pull. The C3’s two operating modes make those considerations especially important. High quality semi and FRT modes is crucial. You can depend on this trigger. Rare Breed crushed it!

  15. David –

For looks, I favor the flat version of the C3. Two-stage goodness with a flat trigger. I’m here for it!

  16. Floyd –

Smooth take-up, a distinct wall, and a clean break. That’s what a good two-stage trigger should deliver. The flat variant of the C3 combines those characteristics with a separate forced-reset mode and offers it up with a flat trigger. This is what I’m giving everyone this Christmas!

  17. Blaine –

The difference between a standard mil-spec trigger and the FRT-15C3 is so unbelievably substantial. What stands out most is the two-stage semi-auto pull. There’s a defined first stage followed by a very clean break. The additional FRT setting makes the design even more versatile. Then, Rare Breed offers it with a straight trigger blade which makes for a really cool look and feel. It’s the bees knees.

  18. JD –

I was torn between the curved and flat FRT-15C3 and finally decided to buy the flat version. Really glad I did. I like the way the straight trigger feels under my finger, and the two-stage pull in semi is probably my favorite part of the whole setup. It’s just so clean. Then you move it over to that third position and things get to be a whole lot more fun. The C3 is just that good. Give it a little time and I think everybody is going to want one of these.

  19. Adam –

The straight trigger is a cool variant for the C3. I already liked the C3 better than the L3 because of it’s high-quality two-stage design but now it’s also got the cool flat face. Rare Breed FRT-15C3 for the win!

  20. David –

Well now, the flat C3 is a tidy-looking trigger. I’m partial to the straight face, and the two-stage trigger pull is my thing. Reckon a little choice goes a long way.

  21. John –

An FRT with a two-stage semi and a flat face. Yes, I like that combination quite a bit. This C3 is speaking my language without saying much at all.
